    my favorite, WAITROSE

    David Cameron

Supermarket snob David Cameron has insulted millions of shoppers by saying Waitrose customers are nicer than those at rival stores.
The Prime Minister said that he found people who use the posh groceries chain more friendly and “thoughtful”.
Mr Cameron’s astonishing remarks come after the Tories were slammed for their patronising “beer and bingo” Budget posters.
The PM was speaking to workers at a John Lewis store, in Cheadle, near Manchester. The department stores giant is Waitrose’s parent company.
Mr Cameron told them: “I have got a piece of supermarket sociology, which is that there is something about Waitrose customers, is that they are the most talkative.
“I found that if I shop in Waitrose, it takes me about twice as long as everyone wants to stop you and have a chat.
“Whereas in other supermarkets I find I can dart round very quickly and get everything.
"It is something about your customers, they are very talkative, engaged people.”

Pricey: Waitrose is more expensive than most supermarket rivals

Waitrose customers were particularly “thoughtful” in comparison to shoppers at other chains, he added.
Mr Cameron said he shops in Sainbsury’s at his Oxfordshire constituency home in Chipping Norton “because there isn’t a Waitrose”.
At Downing Street the Camerons order from Ocado, which used to be affiliated with the Waitrose brand but now sells its own range of food.
The shopping is security checked before going into Number 10, he said.
Nick Clegg swiftly distanced himself from the blundering PM’s remarks on his weekly radio phone-in.
“I use a fair number of supermarkets. I haven’t yet, unlike the Prime Minister, discerned a huge amount of difference,” he told LBC listeners.
The Deputy PM added: “I’ve shopped in Asda, Sainsbury’s, Waitrose and Tesco’s, so there you go, I’ve done the full spread and at the moment, I will do further market research, I haven’t discerned any great difference.”
Labour seized on Mr Cameron’s “stuck-up” remarks.
Shadow minister Michael Dugher said many families were having to use foodbanks rather than expensive supermarkets thanks to the PM’s policies.
And he said: “There’s nothing wrong enjoying shopping at Waitrose. But Cameron seems to be saying that at Waitrose you get a better class of shopper.
“This is a bizarre and empty-headed intervention from a prime minister who increasingly gives the impression of being stuck-up and out of touch.”
